- post modernism is taking the traditional, and changing the elements within it in order to appeal to a wider audience.
- making a famous piece of media into a humorous reference
- for example the simpsons took Dali's melting clocks and altered it to make references to the characters in the show
- EXPERIMENTAL - CANNON - POST-MODERN
- Experimentl; stage of genre that attempts to establish trends
- Cannon; works within the trends to fix them into our cultural understanding
- Post-Modern; looks at the trends, laughs at them and adds something new in
There are three types of Intertextuality;
- Homage - Imitation is the highest form of flattery
- Pastiche - using the image of one text to make a comment on another
- Parody - taking the mick!
